I am currently redesigning Routie for iOS 7, and I wanted to display big numbers using the same font as in iOS 7 weather app and lock screen. I was quite surprised that with a quick search on Google, I wasn’t able to find the actual name of the font anywhere. So I went ahead and watched the ‘Using fonts with Text Kit’ WWDC session, and as expected, I found the answer there (not explicitly, but it pointed me to the right direction). So the font name is.. HelveticaNeue-Thin!
I am proud to announce that Routie is (finally!) here, and you can download it from the App Store. Initially, I thought that it will take just a couple of months to finish it, but in the end, it actually spread over 2 years. I had some huge distractions along the way (school, high-school graduation, being broken hearted and not being able to get over it for far too long, first year at the university..), but I am glad that I managed to finish the version 1.0, with all the quality and high level of polish as I wanted to.
Hey guys, I know it’s been a long time since my last post here, and I know that one of the things that was on my to-do list when I was returning from San Francisco was to “continue in frequent blogging”, but I was simply too busy finishing my app, Routie. I thought that it will be done much sooner, I didn’t met almost any of my personal deadlines for milestones in the project. Everything simply took way longer than I expected it to. But, I have good news! As the title says; the beta version is ready!
Hi guys, just a quick update from my travel all the way back to Prague. I am currently sitting on the plane from JFK to Prague, and I couldn’t resist to write about my experience from the first part of the travel home (from San Francisco to New York). Because.. I got to talk with a really interesting girl from Ireland!
I know, the conference ended 5 days ago, I should’ve written about it way sooner. But there is so much to explore in SF! Anyway, better now than never, right? For those of you who hasn’t read any of my other posts here; I got lucky and won the WWDC Students Scholarship, so I had the opportunity to be at this year’s ‘DubDub’ (as cool guys call it). Here are some notes about what kind of experience it was for me.
Today started this year’s WWDC, and since I won the scholarship, I had the incredible opportunity to be part of it. In this blog post, I’ll try to summarize the most important things from my personal perspective, and I’ll tell you guys why it is a big deal not only for Apple and for the whole world, but also for me personally.
Routie, the project that I have been working on for so long, investing a lot of my energy and time into it and kind of hoping that this will be ‘the thing’ that will turn the things around for me, and the thing that people will really love and use frequently, has finally its own coming-soon page! For me, today was long, stressful, tiring, but also very exciting and upbeat day. I have traveled from Prague to San Francisco (over 13 hours spent in airplanes), and I have, for the first time in my life, seen San Francisco in all its glory with my own eyes. And boy, it really is Something.
It’s been already almost seven months since my last post, and I have to admit that I am really ashamed of it. Another one from the infinite pool of people who don’t stand up to their promises, huh? But enough of this, you’ve most likely came here to learn something about creating zip files in Google App Engine / Java servlets, and that’s what this post is (from now on) all about. So, let’s get started, shall we?
It’s been already a month I posted here something, and I really feel like it’s time to correct it. In this article, I am going to write from my naive and unskilled perspective what does the fear of failure mean for me, and how I am dealing with it.
